"Run to Break the Chain"- 5k/10K/Half marathon is a community fundraiser for Operation Underground Railroad. The event will be held at Smith Park in Rexburg, ID on Saturday, September 23, 2017 and will be family and stroller friendly event.
Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) is an organization which helps to liberate children enslaved in the sex slave industry. Using cutting-edge computer technology and human intelligence, O.U.R. undercover teams of former CIA and Special Ops personnel go into the darkest corners of the world to help local law enforcement liberate enslaved children and dismantle the criminal networks that hold them captive. In just over two years, O.U.R. has directly liberated 693 children and arrested over 300 traffickers, in rescue missions across the globe.
It is our goal to support Operation Underground Railroad by hosting the third annual Run to Break the Chain 5K, 10K, and half marathon community fundraiser, with 100% of proceeds being donated to this deserving organization and cause. The event will be held at Smith Park in Rexburg and will be family and stroller friendly. We will have a live DJ, music, food, FREE massages for participants (courtesy of Rexburg College of Massage Therapy), and more! Each participant will receive a free race t-shirt in their swag bag. Sizes will be available in S,M,L,XL in both mens and women's styles. T-shirts and sizes will not be guaranteed if registering the morning of the race, but should still be available.
Packet pickup will be on Friday, September 22 from 4-7 pm at the new Vivint Building off Hwy 20 just south of Rexburg: 2573 S. Frontage Rd, Rexburg, ID 83440.
Packet pickup and late registration will also be available the morning of the event between 6:30-7:30am at Smith Park.
Aid stations along the route will provide water and gatorade, with additional fuel at designated stations along the 10k and half marathon routes. There will also be a post race fuel station with gatorade, water, milk, oranges, bananas and Farmers Bakery bread, available at no cost to runners.
Awards will be given to the top under 18 finisher, and top 3 male and female finishers for each distance.
Race times will begin as follows:
Half Marathon: 8:00am
10K: 8:15am
5K: 8:30am
